Nursery:
In our final full week of Nursery this academic year, the children have continued with their learning listening to the story 'Tiddler' by Julia Donaldson. In Maths, we have revisited learning about what comes before or after a number. Try practising this at home or on a journey over the holidays to see how good the children are!
Finally, we would like to wish you all a happy and safe holiday, and we look forward to welcoming you all back in Reception in September.
Reception:
This week Reception had a brilliant time on their very first school trip! We learnt about farm animals, built dens and went on a mini beast hunt. We all had so much fun. We then wrote all about our favourite part of the school trip. In Maths, we have been recalling our number bonds to 10 to help prepare us for year 1!
Year 1:
This week we finished our Reading text, 'Into the Forest', where we discovered where Dad went. We've also spent this week learning all about Structures as it is DT project week. It's been a lot of fun trying to make our robots using different pieces of junk modelling. Thank you for all your cardboard. It's helped us to build a strong structure using different attachment techniques. Well done for all your hard work this year. Mrs Hatton and Miss Butt are so proud of you.
Year 2:
We have enjoyed our final full week together as we head towards the end of term. It is DT Project Week, and we have been busy making castles with working drawbridges! We found this a little tricky at first, but soon got the hang of it after some perseverance! The castles look great, and it was a great way to end our topic for this term. Thank you for all of your cardboard donations! We have done some exciting mystery solving maths this week, as well as some final work on punctuation and grammar. Thank you for your continued support this year; we wish you a restful summer break.
Year 3:
This week in our last full week of Year 3, we have been planning our DT project. We have been creating a toy that uses a pneumatic system to open and close a lid or mouth. In RE, we finalise dour topic on prayer by creating a huge poster full of all of our knowledge. In Reading, we looked at all the books we have read this year and created a diamond 9 in order to rank our favourites. We hope you all have a lovely summer break and best of luck in Year 4!
Year 4:
Year 4 had an amazing time at Thinktank Museum on Monday, learning about chemical reactions and exploring nature and the human body. We have completed our Maths unit on co-ordinate grids and, in DT, we have created Roman sandals.
Year 5:
This week, in Maths, we have been studying volume and cubic measurements. In Reading, we created our own Youtube-style book reviews about Kensuke's Kingdom. In RE, we learnt about Saint Paul and his journeys around Europe spreading the Word of God. We also read some of his letters. On Friday afternoon, we were very lucky to have a business enterprise workshop delivered by a company called TDX. This involved designing and marketing a chocolate bar! All the pupils involved had a wonderful time.
Year 6:
This week Year 6 have devoted most of their time towards practising and performing the end of year production: The Rocky Monster Show.
There have been many great individual performances and all the children have worked so hard at remembering their words and song lyrics. As a year group, their singing has improved immensely, and we are so proud of their attitude and effort. Well Done Year 6!
