About Us

Welcome to St Modwen's Catholic Primary School's new website

I feel extremely proud and fortunate to be the Acting Head Teacher of this very special school and it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our website.  It aims to introduce you to our successful, friendly, caring and high-achieving Catholic school that ensures that all children should be challenged, motivated and inspired to reach their full potential.

It is our firm belief that your child’s education and wider needs are best served through a close partnership between home and school and also between the home, school and parish.  This partnership is based on the principle that, whilst the school and parish have crucial roles in the education and spiritual growth of each child, parents are their first teachers and the greatest influence in a child’s life.  At St Modwen’s we encourage you to become involved in your child’s learning and in the life of the school and parish.

Our Mission statement is at the heart of all we do as we teach the children to aim high and achieve their personal best; believe in the catholic faith and follow the gospel values; and care for the school, their local community and the world we live in.  We provide children with real experiences of living out their faith through action - Please see our ‘Faith through Action’ page.

Our knowledge-rich curriculum is designed to provide a broad and balanced curriculum that; develops children’s critical thinking skills, enhances their communication skills, and builds independence and resilience so that our children can be ‘social activists for the future.’ Children enjoy lively engaging lessons where they “listen carefully and apply themselves productively to tasks. They take pride in their work and present it well” (Ofsted 2019).

We were graded ‘GOOD’ by Ofsted in February 2019 who commented, “Pupils benefit from a caring and dedicated staff team that knows them well.”

I hope that our commitment to the well-being, safety and achievement of our pupils and staff is reflected through our website, but we welcome visitors to see it for themselves.  If you would like to come for a visit, please ring to make an appointment to ensure that one of our staff is available to show you around and answer any questions you may have.

We hope that you enjoy your visit to our website, and that you find the information you are looking for.  Please feel free to contact the school directly with any other queries you may have.

Warmest regards,

Anna Duffy
